Boson Protocol: Explaining Real-World Assets
  • Boson Protocol tokenizes real-world assets such as cars, gold, diamonds, etc.
  • Several real-world tokenization projects are going on, such as Project Guardian, Hamilton Lane, etc.

Before understanding real-world assets, let’s talk about protocol and real-world assets!

What Is The Boson Protocol?

The Boson Protocol integrates real-world assets with the crypto world. In simple terms, the Boson Protocol enables the trade of any physical things as redeemable NFT tokens. It’s an exchange protocol that enables the trade of real-world assets without any centralized body. This entire concept is also known as real-world asset tokenization!

Let’s understand what real-world asset tokenization is!

Understanding Real-World Tokenization

Real-world tokenization refers to the process of converting real-world physical items into digital tokens. Tokenization allows the trading, buying, and selling of these tokens. To simplify, physical items are tokenized and stored in blockchain data. Blockchain serves as a platform to store, transfer, and trade these tokens with other networks.

Tokenization is claiming ownership of real-world items in the crypto world. Once the item is tokenized, trading of the item can only be done with the real-world token. Real-world tokens can be stocks, gold, real estate, diamond art, collectibles, cars, and other similar assets. On the other hand, equities, bonds, and carbon credits are also classified as real-world tokenization.

How Does Tokenization Work?

Any real-world asset can be tokenized using the Boson Protocol. To tokenize any item, first select the item one wants to tokenize. The next step is to create a token using the blockchain. This step requires professionals who can build smart contracts.

At the end, link the token with the real-world asset. This ownership of real-world assets is defined by the smart contract. This contract includes all the details, rules, and trading rules for future exchanges.

The last step is to sell or buy the token to activate it. Tokenization is a simple process that can be completed within a few steps.

On-Going Real-World Asset Projects

Here are some of the real-world ongoing projects:

  • Project Guardian

Project Guardian is a collaborative project with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), JP Morgan, DBS Bank, and Marketnode. These popular names converted some of the shares into tokens. Additionally, these tokens are available for lending, borrowing, or earning interest.

  • RealT

ReaIT is one of the few platforms that allows users to buy and sell tokens for real estate properties. The website also provides options for choosing a property for buying or renting. A notable point here is that users can only do transactions in tokens.

  • Hamilton Lane

Hamilton Lane allows users to invest in private businesses in the form of tokens. Here, the working mechanism of the project is similar to that of any other investment company. The only difference is that tokens are created.

Conclusion

The Boson Protocol allows users to tokenize real-world items. To successfully tokenize the item, users need to build a token and then replace the token with the asset. Once the process is complete, these items can be traded using tokens.
